HOW THEY MET

Ken’s brother Dave invited Laura to a party. The plan was to set up Laura with their friend Brad.

However, Laura was waylaid by a tall handsome man (that was Ken, of course) in the living room who made her laugh. Then they learned they share a love of musical theater.

FIRST DATE - September 19, 2003

Ken invited Laura for a picnic on a beautiful bluff in Discovery Park. It was cold & windy, but they didn’t care.

After their picnic, they did not want the date to end, so they went for a beer at a local Irish bar.

The evening included both arm wrestling and thumb wrestling.

FIRST KISS

Goodnight kiss on first date.

FIRST "I LOVE YOU"

Making dinner at Laura’s apartment. Basically they were having a discussion about getting the first

“I love you” out of the way. Laura said it first. Ken was silent (he was chastising himself for not beating her to it).

FIRST MARRIAGE PROPOSAL

Ken asked Laura to marry him after six months of dating, while laying in the sun at Gasworks Park.

He didn't have a ring.

Laura thought he was joking. Ken was surprised he was not joking at all.

SECOND MARRIAGE PROPOSAL - July 4, 2011

Ken proposed to Laura on the 4th of July underneath the fireworks display in Santa Rosa, CA.

He brought a ring that time.

ENGAGEMENT

Laura was completely surprised. She answered “absolutely”.
